چکیده

The near-surface properties of maraging steels are key to controlling their mechanical properties. They can be tailored by surface treatments such as shot peening and also influenced prior machining. This study aims at determining the respective roles grinding processes on microstructure Custom 465 stainless steel. A combination experimental techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atom probe tomography (APT) provides an in-depth characterization initial its modifications. results show that in a very shallow nano-crystalline region less than 1 µm thick, which contains high fraction retained austenite where most Ni3Ti precipitates initially present, have been dissolved. Shot peening, other hand, moderate localized strain close surface, deeper destabilization decreases from ?5% ?2% first 100 below surface. It has no visible effect precipitate microstructures. different mechanisms may cause these modifications discussed.

Characterization of Surface Modification of 347 Stainless Steel upon Shot Peening

Plastic deformations, such as those obtained by shot peening on specimen surface, are an efficient way to improve the mechanical behavior of metals. Generally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) are commonly used to observe the complex microstructural evolutions, such as grain refinement and phase transformation, induced by the surface treatment. In...

SCC of 2304 Duplex Stainless Steel—Microstructure, Residual Stress and Surface Grinding Effects

The influence of surface grinding and microstructure on chloride induced stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of 2304 duplex stainless steel has been investigated. Grinding operations were performed both parallel and perpendicular to the rolling direction of the material. SCC tests were conducted in boiling magnesium chloride according to ASTM G36; specimens were exposed both without extern...

the influence of the neo-platonic concept of poetic imagination on wordsworth’s poetry

The Influence of Homogenization and Solution Annealing Process on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of 1.4470 Ferritic-austenitic Stainless Steel

In the present research, the effect of the homogenization process and annealing temperature were investigated for the 1.4470 ferritic-austenitic stainless steel in the as-cast condition. In this regard, microstructural evolutions, hardness, and impact energy of the steel was evaluated with different heat treatment conditions. The results show that the minimum volume fraction of austenite phase ...
